The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is pleased to announce our continuation of program offerings for home-schooled students.  Home School Workshops are open to all home-schooled students in grades 3rd through 8th for the 2016-2017 school year.  These drop-off programs will include live animal encounters and zoo tours, along with games and other fun activities where students will have hands-on learning opportunities.  Students should dress in layers, bringing clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor activities.

Each session will last 2 ½ hours and cost $12 per student for Zoo Pass Members or $15 per student for Non-Members.  Dates and program descriptions are listed below. Please be sure to sign-up your children for the session appropriate for their age group.

Payments are due upon registration to hold the space, with a 50% refund available if cancellations are made prior to one week before the date of the program.

Home School Workshops: Winter 2017 Schedule

January 18th: The Arctic

  • 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for 3rd through 5th graders
  • 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. for 6th through 8th graders

Join us as we travel from our Wisconsin winter environment to the vulnerable arctic ecosystem. We’ll examine the polar bear as an umbrella species to discuss topics related to glacial melting, habitat loss, predator/prey relationships, and endangered species.

February 8th: The Rainforest

  • 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for 3rd through 5th graders
  • 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. for 6th through 8th graders

Rainforests may be thousands of miles away, but they impact our lives in Wisconsin in many ways. We’ll discover the many important ecosystem services that rainforests provide to us, using the orangutan as a focus species.

March 15th: Wetlands

  • 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for 3rd through 5th graders
  • 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. for 6th through 8th graders

Wetlands are diverse ecosystems that provide homes for a myriad of species – along with providing important services to humans.  Amphibians, such as salamanders and frogs, will be our focus species to help us examine topics related to pollution, bio-indicators, the water cycle, and food chains.

Additional workshops will be available starting in Fall 2017!
