Holiday Fest 2016

Santa is stopping by the NEW Zoo on Saturday, December 10 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.*, so you can let him know what is on your Christmas wish list and make sure you’re on his “nice” list!  Come early and have Breakfast with Santa from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (all-you-can-eat pancakes and porkies) $6 for adults (ages 16 and up) and $4 for children and seniors, in addition to Zoo admission.  (*Please note: Santa will be taking a break from 12pm until 12:30pm)

Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride through the woods from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., too! The ride is just $2 per person and will operate as weather permits. Before or after your “sleigh ride,” warm up in the Mayan Restaurant with a hot beverage. Don’t forget to stop by the Education & Conservation Center between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for children’s crafts and a chance to get up-close and with some of our live animal ambassadors.

Also on the agenda is entertainment provided by the Green Bay Ukelele Club from 10:00am to 11:30am in the Visitor Center, with Bay Port High School’s “Bel Canto” Choir bringing some extra cheer to the season by singing Christmas carols in the Mayan restaurant from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Check out our Paws and Claws Gift Shop and take advantage of saving 50% off of all clothing!  This sale runs throughout December and does not include discounts on admission or Zoo Pass purchases. It is, however, 50% off the lowest marked price on the clothing – including t-shirts, hats and caps, sweatshirts, socks, scarves, and even bandanas.

*(Regular Zoo admission is required for this event, with the exception of the gift shop.)

NEW Zoo admission fees are: $7 Adults, $5 Children (ages 3-15) & $5 Seniors (62 and older), and Children 2 and under are free

Winter hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

World Giraffe Day

Join us for World Giraffe Day at the NEW Zoo on June 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Activities include free behind-the-scenes tours of the Giraffe Barn (from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.), face painting, bounce house, kids’ coloring contest, giraffe-themed handmade craft sales (including some paintings done by our giraffes!), and a chance to get up-close and personal with Hodari and Zuri on their very own special day! Learn more about the conservation efforts underway in Africa and feel good about helping the NEW Zoo and Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) help wild giraffes! All proceeds from the day’s Giraffe Feeding Experience, craft table sales, and 10% of any giraffe items sold in the gift shop will be donated to GCF to help SAVE GIRAFFES!

World Giraffe Day is an exciting annual event initiated by Giraffe Conservation Foundation to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you live!) of the year – 21 June – every year! Not only is it a worldwide celebration of these amazing and much loved animals, but an annual event to raise support, create awareness, and shed light on the challenges giraffes face in the wild. By supporting World Giraffe Day (WGD), you directly help save giraffes in Africa. With only 90,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, the time is right to act NOW!  Visit www.giraffeconservation.org to learn more.

Sweet Safari for Education

The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park, in partnership with the Howard-Suamico Education Foundation, is pleased to announce the hosting of a brand new, family-friendly event:

The Sweet Safari for Education: A Wild Artistic Adventure

This event will be held on Thursday, May 12th,  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Sweet Safari will feature free samples of “sweet treats” from a variety of local vendors and restaurants.  While guests make their way through the zoo to enjoy these tasty treats, they can also participate in several other fun activities, including children’s games, live animal encounters, free carousel rides, and more. A bounce house and inflatable obstacle course will be available, weather permitting, and a special art show, featuring over 150 pieces of artwork from Howard-Suamico School District students, will be on display, too.  These works of art will feature endangered species, including species found at the NEW Zoo!

Advance tickets are available at several local Festival Foods locations: De Pere, Green Bay East, Green Bay West, and Suamico; at the Suamico Citgo; at the Howard-Suamico School District Office; and at the NEW Zoo’s Visitor Center building.  Tickets for the event are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Children under 2 will be free.  Zoo Pass Members: Please note that Zoo Passes will not be valid for entry to this event. Tickets must be purchased for entry.

All proceeds raised during the event will benefit education programs, both at the NEW Zoo and throughout the Howard-Suamico School District.  Thanks to our event sponsors and Sweet Treat Stations: Beerntsen’s Candies; Breadsmith; CheeseCake Heaven, Inc.; Discovery Education; Festival Foods; KI; LaJava a Roasting House; Miron Construction; Monkey Tailz; Montoure Hanson Teske Orthodontic Care; Nielson Communications, Inc.; Olde World Pastries Plus LLC; Poppin’ Z’s Gourmet Popcorn; Sam & Louie’s Pizzeria; SMT Machine & Tool, Inc.; The Avenue 91.1; The Shepherd’s Kids; Winner Green Gum; WonderSigns; Woodman’s Markets; Zesty’s Frozen Custard & Grill.
