Temporary Closure Beginning March 17

NEW Zoo & Adventure Park Announces Temporary Closure Beginning March 17

In accordance with direction from the Governor of Wisconsin, the CDC guidelines, and Brown County, the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park will close to the public until further notice as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.  The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park has been closely monitoring public health information and, while there have been no known cases of exposure to COVID-19 at the zoo or within Brown County at the time of this press release, we have made the difficult decision to close to the public.

We are committed to the safety of our staff, guests, volunteers, interns, animals, and community.  We know that visiting the zoo is an opportunity to not only connect with wildlife and nature, but to connect with others, like family and friends.  This is a challenging choice in the face of challenging times, and we pride ourselves in the care of not only our animals’ health, but our community’s health, as well.  It is our responsibility to do what is right to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

During this period of closure, essential animal care and operations staff will continue to provide care for our animals and make sure that all essential life support and other vital systems continue to operate without disruption.  Though there is no indication that this virus is of any concern to our animals’ health, our animal experts and veterinarian are in constant communication with national animal care and veterinary networks to track the risks and recommendations associated with COVID-19 in animals under human care.

Please note: NEW Zoo Memberships will be extended automatically to cover the period of closure. This process will occur after we re-open.

The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park will continue to update our social media accounts and website throughout this closure.  We hope to bring some enjoyment to your day with our social media posts, and we look forward to opening our doors soon.
