Starting Thursday, July 1st, the NEW Zoo will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Zoo Admission will continue to be half-price on “Wild Wednesdays,” which will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays throughout July and August.
Like many businesses in the community, the Zoo has faced unprecedented staffing shortages this year. The reduction in the Zoo’s hours of operation is necessary to provide the best possible experiences for our valued guests. The Zoo has also cancelled two summer events: Princess & Zooper Hero Day and Touch-a-Truck, which would have taken place on July 17th and August 7th, respectively.
Although the Zoo’s hours have shortened, we continue to offer a variety of fun experiences this month and beyond. The Giraffe Feeding Experience is now open twice daily, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and again from 2:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guests can also purchase tickets to feed the pelicans or penguins and purchase bags of feed for the animals in the Children’s Zoo. Please note that face coverings are required to participate in the giraffe, pelican, and penguin feedings. Visit newzoo.org for more details and to view the full schedule of daily events.
During your visit, don’t forget to stop by the Japanese macaque habitat and look for baby Tatsu! The little monkey was just born on May 28th and can often be seen playfully exploring and climbing. Monkey mom, Ashiko, is doing a great job watching Tatsu learn and grow.
The Adventure Park is also now open for daily family-friendly adventures starting at 10:00 a.m. Tours can fill quickly, so consider purchasing your tickets online in advance whenever possible. Visit newzoo.org/adventure-park to learn more.
The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park continues to hire for a variety of part-time and full-time positions. Learn more and apply today at newzoo.org/get-involved/employment-opportunities.
