This is no tall tale – the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is excited to announce the upcoming arrival of another giraffe resident! This new giraffe is tentatively expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 10th.
“The addition of another giraffe is something we’ve been working towards for a long time,” says NEW Zoo Director, Carmen Murach, “but it’s a plan that’s only become a reality thanks to the NEW Zoological Society and the many donors who supported us in building an addition to our giraffe habitat this summer.”
The NEW Zoological Society is the longtime 501(c)(3) fund-raising partner of the Zoo. The Society facilitated the new giraffe expansion which opened earlier this year. Along with lead donors, Lee & Kathy Anderson, the Society raised the funds to construct the 3,640 square-foot addition, allowing for additional giraffes to be welcomed to the NEW Zoo.
The Zoo is inviting the community to join us in creating a “welcoming committee” for the new giraffe on October 10th. Those who join us will be able to see the specially modified trailer and truck as it transports the new giraffe through the zoo and to the Giraffe Lodge, where the giraffe will be allowed to enter the building with some privacy and given time to adjust to the new home. Although the exact date and time of the giraffe’s arrival may change based on weather conditions and other factors, the tentative arrival time is set for between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th.
Additional information will be provided as the date approaches. Stay tuned for updates!
