This year’s event will take place on Wednesday\, October 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pines Shelter building\, on the north end of the NEW Zoo’s main parking lot. Bring your own carving tools and show us your creative carving skills to help us decorate the Zoo! Happy Joe’s mascot\, “Happy the Dog\,” will also stop by that night to meet guests. This is a great opportunity for families\, along with larger groups such as scout troops\, clubs\, churches\, school service groups\, and more. Everyone is welcome! \n“Over the last 15 years\, our Public Pumpkin Carving event has become a favorite fall activity for so many families in our community\,” says Angela Kawski\, Education & Outreach Manager. “It takes a lot of hands to carve the 200-plus pumpkins needed to line the Zoo’s pathways\, but it’s such a fun time for everyone who joins us. We love seeing both familiar and new faces every year.” \nAll pumpkins carved during the event remain at the Zoo\, to be used to decorate for North Shore Bank Zoo Boo 2026\, held on Fridays and Saturdays throughout October. Community members are also welcome to drop off carved pumpkins at the NEW Zoo anytime during regular business hours\, Sundays through Thursdays in October\, starting on October 11th. The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is continually in need of “fresh” pumpkins throughout the month. \nPre-registration through our online RSVP system is strongly encouraged for the event. After registering\, guests can arrive anytime between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. \nRegister Now\nThanks to our sponsors!\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  URL:https://newzoo.org/event/public-pumpkin-carving/ CATEGORIES:Zoo Events ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://newzoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pumpkins.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=UTC:20260927T100000 DTEND;TZID=UTC:20260927T170000 DTSTAMP:20261023T233605 CREATED:20260904T134754Z LAST-MODIFIED:20260904T140155Z UID:10000204-1790503200-1790528400@newzoo.org SUMMARY:Adventure Park's Fall Fest\, presented by Everdry Waterproofing DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the return of the Adventure Park’s Fall Fest\, presented by Everdry Waterproofing! Join us on select evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for family-friendly\, outdoor fun. This year’s dates are: \n\nMay 23\nJune 20\nJuly 18\nAugust 15\nSeptember 19\n\n“Twilight Tours have quickly become a fan-favorite experience\,” says Nathaniel Wagner\, Adventure Park Supervisor. “Guests have really enjoyed being here in the evening hours\, when the Zoo itself is closed. You get to see animals at a time when no one else usually does\, and many of them are especially active as they get settled in for the night.” \nThe zoo’s big cats seem to enjoy watching guests on the Twilight Tours\, too! The experience provides a perfect view of the African lions and the snow leopards. Snow leopard Ahava seems to love interacting with guests on Twilight Tours\, often jumping up to the top of the rock pile to be practically face-to-face with people\, where she can watch and follow them\, even running back and forth a bit. \nTickets for the Twilight Tours will be available at the Adventure Park’s Base Camp Building at the time of the events. The final tour each evening will depart at 7:30 p.m. Regular prices for the Canopy Tour will apply: Adults – $8; Seniors (62+) and Kids (3-15) – $6; and Kids under 3 – Free. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a “last hurrah” before the end of summer. Discounts will be available at the door starting at 9:00 a.m. when the zoo opens. \n“We’re so grateful to Meijer for their continued partnership and support\,” says Carmen Murach\, NEW Zoo Director. “Offering free admission to the first 500 guests provides an opportunity for us to reach people who may not otherwise be able to visit. We look forward to this fun celebration with our community.” \nWhile you’re here\, keep your eyes peeled for some of the many babies born this year! The American Red Wolf pups are *almost* the same size as mom and dad now\, but you can still tell them apart by their HUGE ears (which they haven’t quite grown into)! The baby snowy owls are getting their adult feathers but still have quite a bit of fluffy gray down\, making them appear extra cute. Our young cotton-top tamarin\, Ventisco\, loves to bounce around his habitat\, playfully interacting with his family members. Several new-to-the-zoo critters can also be seen\, such as Odin the striped skunk\, a family of red-eyed tree frogs\, and Sunny\, our new female wattled crane.
