Not only is it a worldwide celebration of these amazing and much loved animals, but an annual event to raise support, create awareness, and shed light on the challenges giraffes face in the wild. By supporting World Giraffe Day (WGD), you directly help save giraffes in Africa. With only 90,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, the time is right to act NOW! We’re pleased to announce that the #NotARule Tour is coming to the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park on July 1st, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place during our Wild Wednesday half-price admission time frame, so anyone who visits during the event can enjoy half-priced admission into the zoo. Author of the new book, Penguins Can’t Fly +39 Other Rules That Don’t Exist, Jason Kotecki, will be on-site for book signings, complete with fun activities for families to enjoy. There will be books available in the Paws & Claws Gift Shop for visitors to purchase, and all proceeds from the book sales will support the zoo’s conservation efforts.
The 2015 #Notarule Tour is a curious cavalcade of unusual events united in the purpose of helping people break rules that don’t exist. Fueled by the message of Jason Kotecki’s new book from St. Martin’s Press, Penguins Can’t Fly +39 Other Rules That Don’t Exist, this is one unconventional book tour.
“This is not a traditional lame and boring book signing,” says Kotecki, who is also an artist and professional speaker. “Our goal is to take the focus off the author and tell a better story by creating a fun and memorable experience that gives guests opportunities to break a bunch of rules with their friends and family.”
Some of the rule-breaking activity stations that will be featured include:
“Thou Shalt Act Thine Age:” A photo booth where attendees are encouraged to take pictures after dressing up using silly hats and props.
“Thy Cookies Shalt Be Beautiful:” Featuring bakery-made penguin-shaped sugar cookies, where attendees will be invited to decorate a cookie (ugly) with nasty colored frostings and sprinkles.
“Thou Shalt Not Draw on Thy Children:” Attendees will be invited to use washable markers to draw mustaches on their children or each other!
The event is free with zoo admission.
