To celebrate the arrival of our newest resident, the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park invites the public to join us in creating a “welcoming committee” for Eddie the giraffe.
“We’d love to see people here with homemade ‘Welcome, Eddie’ signs on Tuesday,” says Carmen Murach, NEW Zoo Director. “After all, it’s not often that people get a chance to see how a giraffe travels! This is a great opportunity to visit the Zoo, enjoy the fall weather and scenery, and get a first-hand look at Eddie’s arrival.”
Those who visit the zoo on the morning of October 10th will be invited to create a sign using poster boards and art supplies like crayons and markers. Of course, everyone is welcome to bring signs from home, as well! Guests here during Eddie’s arrival will be able to see the specially modified trailer and truck as it transports him through the zoo, to the new Lee & Kathy Anderson Giraffe Lodge, where Eddie will be allowed to enter the building with some privacy and given time to adjust to his new home.
Eddie is tentatively set to arrive around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, although his exact arrival time may change.
“We will do our best to keep people updated on Eddie’s ETA that morning using the Zoo’s social media accounts,” says Angela Kawski, the Zoo’s outreach coordinator. “Our handle is @NEWZooGB on Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), and Instagram, so we encourage everyone to follow our pages now to stay in the loop on Tuesday.”
